The rumor first reported on Dump Bachmann has been partially confirmed by the Associated Press: former Blaine Mayor and Transportation Commissioner Elwyn Tinklenberg is strongly considering an entry into the race for the DFL nomination in Minnesota’s Sixth congressional district.
A source on Bob Hill’s campaign would confirm only that a meeting between Tinklenberg and Hill did occur Thursday. As of Friday morning, it is unclear whether Tinklenberg has met with Olson yet.
Tinklenberg ran unsuccessfully for the DFL endorsement in 2006, but lost a close fight at the CD6 DFL convention to Patty Wetterling, who would eventually lose in the general election to Michele Bachmann.
[Update]: Tinklenberg and Olson will meet over lunch today.
